On December 23, 2019, “The Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of The Earth-Georgia” organized meeting in the frame of EU financed Project” Ensuring Participatory Decision Making Processes at Regional and National Levels by Empowering NGOs/CSOs (ENI/2017/393903) on “the procedures of Environmental Impact Assessment” in the City of Akhalitsikhe for the staff representing Municipalities and City Councils and for the local NGO,s. of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region. The training was held at project regional office that also was established within the frame of the EU financed Project – Ensuring Participatory Decision Making Processes at Regional and National Levels by Empowering NGOs/CSOs (ENI/2017/393903).
The meeting was led by the experts of “The Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of The Earth-Georgia” ,working on several issues at project, and presented presentations with the following subjects: EIA procedure; SEA procedure; EIA code of Georgia; Comparison review of international regulation of EIA in relations with local legislation; EIA and biodiversity - local legislation and convention on Biodiversity; the role of media and society for the implementation of EIA approach; The meeting was led by the Project Supervisor- Mrs.Nino Chkhobadze. Representatives of the City Halls and Councils of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region and local NGO.s had an opportunity to get informed, by the project Coordinator Mrs.Natalia Sokhadze , of the Project’s aims and goals, as well as on its planned and already implemented activities. Between participants have been discussed the several cases on EIA . The meeting was led by the Project Supervisor- Mrs.Nino Chkhobadze.
The Project is funded by the European Union and is being implemented by the “Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth – Georgia”(Lead Partner), “City Institute Georgia”, “Public Advocacy” and Research-Intellectual Club “Dialogue of Generations”.
