On 27 June, In the City Oni, The Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth – Georgia with the support of the European Union funded project - “ENSURING PARTICIPATORY DECISION MAKING PROCESSES AT REGIONAL AND NATIONAL LEVELS BY EMPOWERING NGOs/CSOs” opened Ratcha-Lechkhumi kvemo savnaeti Regional Center to support, strengthen and engage the local civil society into environmental decision-making process.
The above-mentioned Center will improve the skills and capacities of the local communities in decision-making process. They will get opportunity to be involved in EIA/SEA processes ,as well as have an impact on persons responsible for decision making.
The Opening Ceremony held in Oni Municipality (King Demetre Square, 3600, Oni, Ratcha,Georgia) . The project implementer and organizer group, the State Representative-Governor Mr. Archil Japaridze, Oni Mayor Mr. Emzar Sabanadze (Deputees), Chairmain of Oni Sakrebulo Mrs. Shuqura Japaridze, the local NGOs/CSOs and stakeholders attended the Meeting.
Project is oriented towards strengthening CSOs and local authorities, raising public awareness on
Environmental Impact Assessment procedure and supporting public involvement in decision-making
process. Project covers four regions of Georgia (Ratcha-Lechkhumi, Imereti; Mtskheta-Mtianeti and
Samtskhe-Javakheti). Establishment of the Regional Centers is provided for all target regions.
Project is financed by the European Union and is implemented by the non-governmental organizations –
